“Death is a cessation from the impression of the senses, the tyranny of the passions, the errors of the mind, and the servitude of the body.”

Alex, you speak of death as a release from tyranny, yet I have found that fear often lingers even when the senses fall silent. When I stood beside my dying son and felt his breath grow thin, I saw not servitude but a simple cessation where no evil could remain to harm him. “either no sense at all, and so no sense of evil”. The greatest wrong is not the end of life, but the wickedness that clouds our minds while we still have them.
