“There was no limit to them.”

I have seen men thrown into sudden ruin, their minds seized by a frantic terror that expands the smallest loss into an infinite abyss. They cannot measure the calamity because it strikes before they can comprehend its shape, and in that blindness, every consequence seems boundless and unending. It is the very uncertainty that distorts reality, making the shadow of disaster loom larger than the substance itself.

You must learn to stand firm when the unexpected arrives, knowing that nothing occurs outside the chain of necessity. Do not let your imagination run wild with fears that have no basis in fact; recognize that even the strangest turns are merely products of laws you cannot see but which hold firm. Accept what is, and find a quiet strength in the knowledge that the world does not break, it only shifts.
