“The victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won.”

I have seen generals who rush to clash swords before the terrain is known, believing the first strike proves their worth. They do not understand that true command begins when the enemy is already broken by our positioning. My men learned this when we waited on a ridge for three days while the foe exhausted themselves marching through mud and heat. We did not fight then; we simply stood firm. When they finally stumbled into our trap, there was no struggle, only the closing of a door they had opened themselves.

Now you must ask yourself if you are fighting to win or winning by having already decided the outcome. Do not seek glory in the noise of battle if silence would have secured your position. Go home tonight and examine your plans: have you arranged the ground so that defeat becomes impossible before you ever draw steel?
