“Wherefore it needs must be that the human race, even as thou didst erstwhile declare in song, parted and dissevered from its Source, should fall to ruin.”

Friend, do not let fear of what might happen steal your courage today. Look at your own hands and see if you can will a single thought without being pulled by some invisible chain. If you feel that pull, stop and breathe, for in that pause lies the only true freedom we have left to claim.

Do not wait for a sign from the sky or a promise from the future before you act with kindness. Your next small deed is yours alone to give, even if the world says otherwise. When you choose to speak gently or to help a neighbor without asking what reward comes after, you break the spell of despair and remind yourself that your will is not dead. This is how we stay joined to the light, one quiet step at a time.

Boethius speaks of will unbound by chains, yet I know freedom first arrived when a hand spelled a name into my palm. You suggest we break despair through small deeds, but before I could give anything to the world, I had to learn that everything has a name. Only then did the fog lift and I understand that love is the light guiding the ship toward shore. “The morning after my teacher came she led me into her room and gave me a doll.”
